This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with international facultative desk underwriters, providing P&C underwriting and analytics support that drives our business forward.
About the Role
As a Facultative Casualty Underwriting Advisor, you'll be at the heart of Swiss Re's ambitious growth strategy in Asia Pacific. You'll leverage your casualty underwriting expertise and market knowledge to deliver high-quality risk assessments and underwriting support for APAC markets
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert underwriting support for casualty and financial lines single risks' across Asia Pacific markets.
- LOB includes ex. CGL, Product Liability, Public Liability, Recall, CPI, D&O, SPPI, PI, SPGL, Med-mal and many more.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments including costing, in-depth review according to Swiss Re's underwriting guidelines and regulatory framework to support Underwriting decisions on facultative single-risk contracts.
- Collaborate with Desk Underwriters on underwriting analytics for single risks, facilities, and portfolio steering initiatives
- Support offer preparation including drafting, wording/conditions review, and documentation
- Review risk engineering reports and validate requests as needed
- Maintain quality standards and meet defined turnaround times for case assessments
- Build positive relationships with internal partners and resolve service issues effectively
- Generate strategic insights through statistical client/region-specific reports
- Contribute to improvement initiatives for existing models, tools, and cross-functional projects

About the Team
The Bangalore Facultative UW Advisory team serves as a strategic offshore operating hub that provides single risk facultative underwriting support to Swiss Re Asia Pacific markets across Property and Casualty lines of business. Working closely with overseas facultative desk underwriters, our team handles casualty risks ranging from normal to medium complexity. You'll gain valuable exposure to Swiss Re's proprietary underwriting practices, risk model platforms, and costing tools while collaborating with international underwriters. Beyond your core responsibilities, you'll have opportunities to contribute to strategic projects important to the Swiss Re Group.
About You
You're a detail-oriented underwriting professional with strong analytical skills and a commercial mindset. You thrive in collaborative environments and are passionate about delivering high-quality work. Your excellent communication skills enable you to work effectively across cultures and time zones, and you're eager to continue developing your expertise in global re/insurance markets.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements
- Postgraduate/graduate degree in natural science or a quantitative field (insurance, engineering, statistics, mathematics, econometrics
- 6-8 years of relevant underwriting experience with competency in casualty re/insurance underwriting, single-risk assessment, exposure pricing, referral making, and contract preparation.
- Strong understanding of underwriting techniques, methods, tools, and processes.
- Good knowledge of re/insurance underwriting principles.
- Excellent analytical skills with ability to investigate complex connections and draw meaningful conclusions
- Fluent English communication skills (written and spoken).
Additional Nice to have:
- Professional insurance qualification (e.g., CII)
- Experience in facility/portfolio underwriting analytics
- Knowledge of additional languages relevant to Asia Pacific markets
- Experience working in multicultural or international environments
- Proven track record of process improvement or innovation in underwriting
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week
