Description
Guy Carpenter in London is seeking a resourceful and proactive Reinsurance Broker with experience in Middle East markets and a strong focus on expanding our footprint in Africa.Join our dynamic and collaborative IMEA team, where you will broker treaty reinsurance programs specialising in casualty lines of business across the IMEA region. This role involves developing, placing, and servicing casualty reinsurance programs while working closely with cedants, reinsurers, and internal analytics teams to deliver competitive and innovative solutions. We welcome candidates with insurance market experience who possess a strong casualty background and a genuine interest in transitioning into the reinsurance sector.
We will count on you
- Support the renewal and placement of casualty reinsurance programs for regional and multinational clients and prospects across the Middle East markets, including travel to these regions as needed.
- Engage with clients to understand their evolving casualty risk needs, fostering strong, lasting relationships.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with reinsurers to secure favourable outcomes for clients in the casualty space.
- Prepare placement slips, cover notes, and contracts specific to casualty treaty business.
- Monitor and follow up on contract documentation to ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance companies, MGAs, and reinsurers across the Middle East.
- Identify new business opportunities, market trends, and emerging casualty risks within the region.
- Lead the placement of casualty reinsurance programs (treaty and/or facultative), including general liability, motor liability, workers' compensation, professional liability, medical malpractice, and other specialty casualty lines.
- Develop placement strategies that maximise capacity, pricing efficiency, and coverage quality for clients.
- Negotiate terms and conditions with global and regional reinsurers.
- Collaborate closely with actuarial, modeling, and analytics teams to interpret portfolio data, assess risk profiles, and structure optimal reinsurance solutions.
- Monitor regulatory and legal developments impacting casualty business within the region.
What you need to have
- Solid knowledge of the insurance or reinsurance market, with a focus on casualty lines.
- Preferably experience broking casualty treaty reinsurance programs; however, candidates from the insurance industry with a strong casualty background will also be considered.
- ACII qualification preferred or actively working towards it.
- Experience with Middle Eastern insurance markets, regulatory environments, and local business practices is highly desirable; candidates from other regions such as APAC or North America will also be considered.
- Proven negotiation skills and established relationships with regional carriers and global reinsurers.
- Preferable knowledge of Pro Rata and Excess of Loss (XoL) treaties.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and client-facing skills.
- Fluency in English is essential; Arabic and/or French language skills are advantageous.
